The author is an experienced GM, who played Starting with some ideas by White neglecting 2.d4 (for example: 1.e4 e6 2.e5!? This entry was posted in Chess. By Steve | Published: May 26, 2009. I am very happy to play White against the Nimzo-Indian. (with the intention to play the French Defence) and 1.d4 e6 (which keeps the option open, to either play a Nimzo indian / Bogo indian, Queen's Gambit Declined, Ben-Oni type, Stonewall Dutch, English Defence) are also both flexible and give certain chances to throw your opponents off their known lines! As White, I had some control over the opening. Emms' older effort, and I think (even) better for club players, is his Easy Guide to the Nimzo-Indian (London:Cadogan, 1998). I anticipated that he would play a Nimzo-Indian against me if I let him, and I saw no reason to prevent him from doing so.
